The Passing Wind

I in frailty of mortal mind

Often grieve over life and the brevity of time.

For there much to do, and so much left undone,

When our days are measured by the rising and setting sun.

For I grieve for those who have no home,

And I feel pain for the aging ones dying alone.

I moan with the sadness of a war weary heart,

as I watch the strife and turmoil of a war torn world being pulled apart.

I feel the hunger of a young and dying mother,

as she in sorrows of passing days buries her sister and brother.

For the sins of man,

are evident in her dying land.

I hurt when I see,

Another soul succumb to HIV,

For they never again in life, have a chance,

to sing of grace, or in love to dance.

For life is often as brief as a passing wind,

It comes, and it goes, and is not known again.

For we are but a short memory in the span of time,

thus the reason that I grieve sometimes.

For It is my desire for all men to be free,

to live and love, and to have victory.

For there is too much hurt, and too much pain,

with too little time in this life’s game.

For I have seen too much for the frailty of my mind,

to withstand the woe in the passing of this time.

So I shall I suppose,

Watch in silence as the shadows grow.

For even this feeling that I express in this written word,

Will be like the wind after it passes…

Silent…and unheard.

"The Passing Wind" should be posted throughout USA! This is ONE of a kind... A light of the lights, (If I may say it!) and very profound and humane SEA OF EMOTIONS. We should send a copy of "The Passing Wind" to our CONGRESSMEN, (WHY NOT?) and to as many friends and entities as we can.

On the poem, as a poem, it is a magnificent composition that I keep by heart.

I salute You, Sublime Poet!

The wind is like life...it roars sometimes when angry and then it can lull us into a restful sleep at other times. Life isn't just so we attempt to justify it by living psitively and leaving behind some good for our grand kids.
Time is also the test being born gives us....
from the beginnig.

Great poetry!

Unfortunately true... They say one person can make a difference.. I am not sure how.. I have worked for Non profits for years .. most take what belong to the one we are trying to help.. Administrative fees.. Computers for every board member installed in THEIR homes.. gas cards.. You name it.. I served on this board,,
I WAS ONE OF TWO WHO started THIS ORGANIZATION TO FEED THE NEEDY.. HELP HIV PATIENTS.. TRY TO TEACH PEOPLE TO SAVE.. GET THEM INTO SAFE HOMES.. BUT.. THE POLITICIANS.. AND THE COMMISSIONERS ALL WANTED A PIECE OF THE PIE.. SOMETIMES YOU CAN 'T FIGHT CITY HALL. SO ,,I LET MY "BABY" PROJECT GO TO HANDS OF THE CORRUPT.. AND THEY RAN IT INTO THE GROUND WITHIN 3
YEARS.

GREAT WRITE AND ONE NEEDED FOR ALL TO READ..

Allen...your compassionate thoughts and feelings for Mankind are not in vain !!!

These touching words are registered in Heaven , and also by the power of the written word...move men and women's hearts to alter the dark landscape to a new vista of light and hope...shining like a beacon in the gloom .

Wonderful and empathetic expressions Allen...
Persistence is the Key !!!
