by J. Allen Wilson — Read all 1,629 poems by J. Allen Wilson

Hey, another poem from Leah as painting number one progresses. Alas, the canvas is no longer white...but sadly...its just the underpainting. :(
thanks to all for taking the time to comment on Leah's poetry.
Allen

Ps. I have been reading some during breaks and just wanted to say that all of yall's work helps inspire and drive the creative painting process....prints available next year...Just kidding...LOL

Moonbeam Whispers

Tonight, I caught a moonbeam
that fell upon my bed.
It nestled in my coverlets
And danced around my head.
Teasing me and taunting me
Relentless in its charm
Its magic quickly luring me
To mystic lands so distant and foreign.
So I rode upon that moonbeam
To a secret place of bliss
I played in falling stardust
And swam in rainbow mist.

But as quickly as it came, as quick it had to go.

"Don’t leave me!" I cried aloud
When the moonbeam tried to go
I grabbed a jar with a lid
But found it wouldn’t hold
the light that I had captured there,
For it quickly slipped away
Now all alone, I stood in the night
To await the coming day.
Dewdrop tears fell from my eyes
And kissed upon my cheek
They traced their mark upon face
And rested on my lips.
In silence there, a whisper soft
Gently spoke into the dark
"When daylight comes, my dreaming one
You'll find me in your heart".

Leah, you are lucky,
when my moonbeam did retreat back to the sky,
it told me not to look in my heart,
better to examine the next time I fart...
