He Stepped Out Today

He stepped out today,

Just left this world,

And quietly slipped away.

For an angel had called him

to his eternal home,

unto a place he had never known.

Yes, he stepped out today

And left this sighing world.

To chase eternity alone

Though he did not cry

Nor did he complain,

He just closed his eyes,

And left behind his pain.

Even still,

There were those

Who tried to change

What God had willed,

But their efforts were in vain

For no matter the valiant endeavor of those around

There was nothing, no not nothing

That could keep this man from his appointed round.

Yes, oh but yes….

He stepped out today.
