Dark Legions

Vexation of spirit,
oh turbulent times,
all with shallow forays,
into the dark places of the mind.
For invisible and silent
are these dead dreams,
as principalities of the air,
bring forth our helpless screams.
Oh trapped are we,
beneath an endless sea.
With naught for light,
nor deep harbors for our safety.
so whereunto shall we all go,
when assaulted by those unclean
legions which rise from below.

Should we turn and face this fight,

Or surrender all to the darkness of night?

For we battle not a physical foe,

But one that hinders our spirits growth.

They attack us from their nether realm,

and accuse the burdened soul to overwhelm

They despise what is true and right

and falter in the presence of light.

Yet often, we in our weakness concede

And listen to these spirits plead.

"Come hither"…

They say…

Come hither with us this day,

And we shall lay unto your mortal eyes

All your dreams that never materialized.

Yes…oh yes they would hiss.

Listen to us

And you will have all that you wish.

With your desires fulfilled,

in more ways than you could name,

you will be famous

you will be rich

you will be loved

and have worldly fame.

All you have to do, is just listen to us

And join in on the fun and games.

So do not hesitate

And join us before its too late.

Just sign here on this dotted line

And surrender to us your soul and mind,

Then and only then can you see

What pleasures await you

beneath the endless sea.

Oh simple man…beneath this endless sea,

You failed to realize

I and my legions were born of deceit.

So come now…come hither

And taste of your fame,

As you and others alike

Spend eternity in chains.

Dear Allen,

Brilliant write, how easy it is to be trapped into the bright lights and all the promises and land up in a deep bottomless pit.

You do these dark ones better than anyone. If this doesn't make
people take stock of where they are at, I don't know what will;-)
Great work Allen!

Allen, this is so good!
The essence of this poem is familiar to me.
Truth is there. It does stunt our spiritual growth.
Good Write!
