America's New Born King

Churches stand empty,

Malls crammed packed,

Pews gathering dust,

While shoppers fill their sacks.

Faith put on backburners

Of harried peoples mind,

Replaced by the lust

of being the first in line.

Time stands still,

As the church mouse does creep,

whilst all the parishioners are at Wal-Mart

fighting for Halloween treats.

No more are the days

Of honoring Gods way.

For He, in many of mind,

Has been replaced.

The dollar is now sacred,

And worshiped instead,

For to many the Sabbath does not exist,

For they see a God that is dead.

Taught this way are they,

From a very early age,

that stores shall never close,

for there is a never ending need

for new set of clothes.

If this you find difficult to believe,

Then just glance at the churches

Who now in silent wood and stone grieve.

Then turn your gaze

toward the shopping malls maze,

and you too will see,

that the dollar is now…

America's new born King.
