Burning Children

Burning Children

The burden of tears

Falls in maddening silence

upon a million deaf ears.

As cries of anguish

Fill an imploding sky,

Burning children

Show no fear

As they in chaotic madness

Slowly die.

For gain

Is measured,

And fat cats of big business

are pleasured.

Oh pleasured through death and toil,

pleasured by their quest for it all.

And all at the expense of those

Who suffer in the silent pain.

For peace is no longer a cause,

Nor is it evermore reason,

To take in hand

the silent destruction

of self serving man.

As he, beneath an imploding sky,

Laughs a maniacs laugh

whilst burning children die.

this poem is very powerful ... it explores the maddening circumstances of this planet which is more concerned with material gain than diminishing the pain and suffering of its offspring ...

Don't recall any burning children piloting the planes on 9-11. Could have been though, I probably missed reading about them, too busy hob-nobing with the fat-cats.

Such beautiful expressive words for this heartwrenching poem of truth!
The world is insane and we know what's coming! The wrath that is
justified for behaviour such as we see in humnanity that has gone wild!Awesome poem J Allen!

This could be a Halloween poem, it has that scariness to it and the power of a poem by a poet of intelligence...Find Peace, Ed & Rufuz

Allen, this gem is cut to perfection, with many different facets to look through.
I read this several times, that brought me to another thought each time.
Very well penned Allen.

Oh what a powerfully heart-wrenching poem this is, and sadly all to true, this was outstanding and tragic.

"As cries of anguish fill an imploding sky"...great line that sums up the feel of this work, even without the 'fat-cats' deriving pleasure from the desacration..for perhaps they may be blind...but what do I know...I know I found the read intriguing...
