 Time Has Won:

With the light now gone

From this weary travelers home,

There remains nothing but blackness…oh blackness

to call my own.

Cruel unto, and laying open oh oozing wound,

Culling despair from a crying heart,

with singular sighs of solitude.

Onward into the night my cries they go,

limping forth on broken notes

and into the blackness of this accursed dark.

so curse this darkness, which surrounds again,

Oh, curse this curse from broken spirit within,

For I fail and falter, I no longer see,

I am worn smooth by anger

And overcome by the heaviness of the dying sea.

For there is nothing…nothing, it is all is for naught,

Faith has been trampled,

And my wretched soul bought.

I looked up to see hope in the rising sun,

But the darkness of night had hope on the run.

Now linger do I,

Beneath a dark and faithless sky,

nevermore to see again.

For time has won,

And life, oh precious life,

Has fallen beneath

the dying sun.

Evokes a dark cry of ones bearing the burden of these cruel times and the desperation hoplessness of not being able change things on a grander scale.

an extrememly captivating poem in which your poetic powers have captured the anger and frustration of time's advance and life's willingness to be defeated ...

This poetic masterpiece is a veritable treasure chest of gems, like: "For I fail and falter, I no longer see, I am worn smooth by anger" and I agree with Thomas, the last stanza is brilliant. Congratulations!

Allen, this stunning piece just reeks with gloom and despair, my friend! An excellent well-penned timeless creation, that’s for darn sure! Outstanding work. The closing stanza just rocks! Thanks for sharing it. Take care and be well.

Now linger do I,
Beneath a dark and faithless sky,
nevermore to see again.
For time has won,
And life, oh precious life,
Has fallen beneath
the dying sun.
