Windswept Spirits

Windswept Spirits

Windswept spirits cry unto a secret place,

as the King in his fallacies loses his face.

Children in empty corn bins swiftly hide,

While black horses of famine on dead fields ride.

Earth moans out in such derisive pain,

as warmongers walk merrily amidst countless slain.

A scorching sun burns now in a relentless sky

And widows without memories in agony die.

Time has been told through the smoldering land,

Days of woe marked by the fall of man.

Life given over now to damnations ruin

As a King loses his face,

To the windswept spirits which cry

unto a secret place.

Allen, you’ve painted an extremely poignant dark picture here! And if mankind doesn’t stop all this soon, I dread to be around to see the final outcome! Excellent work, my friend. Thanks for sharing it. Take care and be well.

another excellent write, if a little ominous in its tone. you ought to consider collecting all of these devastation / revelation-type poems into a collection, if you haven't already. Dawn

Allen, you've touched more than lightly on the edges of pain and death. The imagery was of devastation to all.
Very deep and frightening but well written.

J Allen I pray this darkness is not yet to come, but
know also, that I'm as ready as I can be, hopefully.
I only pray our family friends and others are ready too!
Superbly composed poem!
