Unbelief

by J. Allen Wilson — Read all 1,629 poems by J. Allen Wilson

Fellow authors, though the trials of late have been many. This will be the last lament.

I shall not approach this subject any longer and I offer to you all, my sincerest apology.

In the future, my writes will carry a message from an objective point and not a personal one.

For it is true of life, we all face or will face trials and tribulation at some point.

And after reading over some of my laments, I realize that my cries

In the dark are useless. I really do want to thank everyone that has

Been kind enough to respond to these dark aspirations with kindness.

This is a true indicator of goodness. My many thanks go out to you all.

For you have shown me your kindness in word, prayers and deed.

Thank you and May God bless you all.

Allen

Unbelief

On bended knee

I CRY ALOUD UNTO THEE

Yet, you answer me not.

SO

Why…oh why I pray,

Have you, from me

Looked away.

What is it of me that you demand?

That I…in such helpless state,

may stay the lifting of your hand.

SO

LISTEN TO ME… and HEAR ME NOW

I plead.

Can it be

that you no longer hear?

Or is it you no longer see

Do you not understand

the immensity of my fear.

What more, oh what more

Must this worm called me do?

That would move you to open the heavens

And allow me to see your mercy is true .

For in this valley in which I now reside

I sit in meager silence and fearfully abide.

I stand against the coming winters chill

And I listen for your voice,

So that I may heed your will.

So, forgive me now for all my doubt,

And restore unto me my lost belief,

That I may truly see

The moving of your hand

In our absolute victory.

Hi Allen, yeah, while most of (what) you say is on, it is the tender current that flows (so) far benearth, to be crippled, to touch alas the tender hand, that made us, in our weariness, just to understand, eventually, oh much so eventually it seems, it the howl, of a dogged ferocious wind, tht shall know, in its spleen, there too. I agree with Thom here, those are facts of life which you discuss, and all is nsimply not high, or of the high wind, but of the lingering fates, and we all must yield, to the thinness of the brooke sometimes. I have discovered, in my brief days, that to be hurt, is cushioned, by lament of others hurt, nad the serenely depressed too, like ornamentation in the house, of leary, and dismal.. For some reason that is a world that aids, although to many an eye, it is not comforable. Ihae liked your reads, although many times, they force me again to see the nakedness of what alays lies close and nearby, al

Allen, I hope that you never feel the need to apologize for writing about the pain you’ve been experiencing lately, my friend. It takes a lot of class and fortitude to be able to express it as well as you have done. Hopefully, we are all here together to be able to share in your glorious triumphs and also try to do our very best to help each other through the trials and tribulations, that it seems we all must face on our journey towards the promised land. You and yours will always be in my prayers and thoughts. The poetry as usual, is absolutely tight and spectacular. May the gentle winds of the Creator’s grace always comfort and keep you and yours safe throughout your travels through time and space, my friend. Take good care and be well.

J. Allen, It is in the valley of lows that allows you to see the trip back up. Be strong and fight back...

i liked "Unbelief" because it is a cry in the dark with which i can identify. i also agree wholeheartedly with Jude's comment (& Eileen's!) below and hope you find your way back to a lighter place. i've got to say, however, that i see no need for an apology. i do very much admire poets who are able to speak from an objective point of view; however, i am not one of them and i like to believe that God takes whatever we might put forth and uses it to the highest good. I know for a fact your poems, even the darkest, have spoken to my heart. Dawn
