Valley Of Forgotten Time

Days move swiftly by measured time,

And years are like raging rivers in my mind.

For just yesterday it seems…

I lived my life…based on endless dreams.

Yet now, I no longer seek a future,

But that, of a fond and welcome past.

For in my years, many ghost have come my way,

bringing with them my dreams captured of yesterday.

They speak to me of grand times past,

times I believed would never end, but forever last.

However, mere shadows of them now remain,

of those once in a life, and forever days.

Yet, still, like raging rivers in my mind,

They in their secrets keep step with racing time.

For soon…someday…

I will go away

And I will become that ghost

Of measured time.

I will then be like the raging rivers of my mind

 Whole, wide and running deep

Winding my way in silent peace…

forever and ever…

Slipping gently

through the valley of forgotten time.

Allen, this is so good I don't know how to comment. It is beautiful. The reader is caught up immediately into your valley and its raging river. This poem is a journey down that river and as I was reading it I could see past memories on the riverbanks of time and feel the river flowing too fast for me to slow it. Excellent, excellent poem!

what a fine piece this is...you catch the reader in the flow nicely. There is sadness here, even darkness, but in the end, there is light and peace. well done, Allen

You know Allen, this is like a diamond to me actually. At first I read some of the lines, and I go, what ? then I read another, and it seemed to give me a slight jolt, like an awakening; but in the end I realized what you were saying, and felt caught up in the current of it all too. It delivered me alot of peace at the end, like a breath, Al
