An unknown burden Has to me... come calling. Sorry about the work...

Going Once…Going Twice…

 Unexplainable sadness

Is heavy and deep

Filled with silent whispers

from hidden places

and its unknown fears to keep.

Oh cumbersome is this load,

For truth and forgiveness is gone.

Vanished now into the blackness of night,

Along with a million bleeding stars

and the remains of many a dead men's bones.

For their graves now lay open

On tundra frozen.

All weeping has now ceased

with all hearts broken.

Shame, oh pitiless shame

How it has cried out my name,

Casting forth more and more

From the gloomy depths

of miseries ensnaring shore.

I shall not go on,

I will not survive,

For the black ghost of sadness

has consumed my mind.

I Can't shake it,

I Can't break it

It will not lift.

I sink now

To depths unknown

Going once…

Going twice…

Gone.

Allen, I am in much the same place. What little I've spoken in days is filled with words like "ominous," "oppression," "darkness closing in"... much, much heavier than most of my depressive times. And your last five words are how I've felt for days. I pray we both rise toward the light with Godspeed. Dawn

J Allen I know when you write like this your whole heart and soul sees both light and dark and the fight ensues! I also know you always win, because of Him! Blessings to you my friend! In my prayers!

An extremely gut-wrenching write, Allen. Through the passage of time and proper support, one can overcome the deepest scars. Be well and take good care, my friend.

Cover him now, keep him safe
he’s in a dormant season
his roots run deep into the earth

Allen, this is a beautifully written poem about how you are feeling. I've lived with depression since my first memory. I can totally empathize. I hope and pray that you are receiving help.

A chilling piece. Feelings of depression well-portrayed.

You write a good picture of the detachment a person feels at different times in their life. It's usually in those places that we find something of ourselves that we hadn't seen before, and it will bring us up into the light. Hope you are well...

As long as you are still with us, depression and anxiety not withstanding, still making my days more bright or as in this poems case, not...as long as you are still writing, this too shall pass...Ed

Allen, I could feel the intense struggle, yet your strength to overcome is so much more powerful. I've no doubt you will pull yourself free of this..
We always break free, with a reknewed sense of who we are and what we can accomplish.
My prayers are with you.
