Sun Kissed

Ahhh, what a beautiful day

even though the forecast is for a high of only 28.

So with this winter chill froze solid in my mind,

Me thinks that I will catch up on some reading time.

Therefore, off to the sunroom I do go

With coffee and a book in tow.

Once there I realize this... though its only 28 outside

the sunroom with all its glass galore

makes it feel at least 80 degrees or more.

So there is left but one thing to do

and say this and hope that I do not  embarrass you.

I simply set my coffee and book down

and let my robe drop gently to the ground.

Ahhh, now this has to be the life,

with good coffee, and a good book

and a pale winters skin that is whiter than white.

Nevertheless, this I do, and must confess,

me, in my mischievous way on this January day,

actually enjoyed my state of undress.

ahh but alas, and little did I know,

that the reading of the book and sipping of coffee so slow,

would somehow render my mind back to its pre-awakened state,

and ever so slow, it was back to sleep I would go.

For one hour...maybe two

oh sweet sleep did I...till my flesh was almost done,

for I never realized till the moving of the sun.

and with the soft shadows now creeping ever so slow,

I came to understand, and I say this that all should know…

Never ever, I repeat….never fall asleep in a sun filled room

Wearing nothing but a little ole book.

For it is like this, you see…

What was once lily white and pain free

Is now an angry and frightening red,

Oh burnt am I…

Scorched somewhat,

And downright fried.

Fried and red,

From the tip of my toes

To the top of my

Head…..

LOL!! I see you don't need this AZ sunshine yer way 'ey? Hot bath gets rid of that burning of the sunburnt lobster red skin. seriously . sounds backwards but it's not. no more burning fried skin.
Thanks for this warning. All in the day of Allen.
Have a good one.

I needed a reminder that life can actually be hilarious, Allen. You certainly delivered. And through my laughing I feel your pain. :) And, btw, the whole thing sounds very fun and you - we, all! - should do more of it. Dawn

Yeah, but what a marvelous way to spend the day - just get a little sunscreen for the next outing (or inning, I guess it would be!)

What a delightful poem, Allen!:>) You sound so happy (even though you're in a world of hurt.) You have your own built-in taning bed. Did the shadows do a work of art on your body? This is just great!

Yep this is cute and know the feeling. My uncle once backed up to a wood stove and had the the words made in 1925 burned into his butt. Boy that caught their eyes down at the funeral home when he was buried. He was born sooner than that but it made for well you can imagine.

Oh how cute! I'm sorry for your pain, but totally envious of your sun room. What I would give to be able to sun bathe in January - it's my very favorite thing to do in life.

Better than being frozen to death though...hell 28 would be a heat wave up this end...try 9 degrees with wind chills below zero...let me see how I can send this down to y'all...LOL! A fun one from you Al, glad to see it, but don't want the visual of you all red...Ed & Rufuz
