Fortunes Chains

I thought...that with just one word from your golden lips,

the whole world would change.

Nevertheless, you speak not, for you choose in silence to remain.

Though I have waited patiently for the sound of your trumpets call,

I have heard nothing...no not anything at all.

Oh how can this very thing be, I hear myself I say,

for you are the bearer of much good that can come this day.

Have you in your might, forgotten your place?

have you in your high and mighty fame,

chosen to greet goodness as a mere game?

Oh can't you see how important it is to me

for time is spinning and spinning its sticky deceitful web,

and chance... like the receding tide, has slowly begun to ebb.

I know that just one word... Just your simple granting of grace,

would be all that is required for me to save face.

Yet still, I hear nothing...and I am now beginning to see

I see that you are not what you say,

and that your soul is that of a liar and filled with hate.

Imagine this...I even once envied your life of bliss.

however, I can now see… that the reason you speak not,

is...because you cannot...for you are bound by fortunes chains

and goodness has left your soul, when in silence you chose to remain.

yep, fortune seems to do that to many, bind them in evil disguised as sweet comfort and blind them to the need for mercy and for grace.

Isn't it said that silence is golden and next to godliness too...I wish to then remain silent...Ed (hope the ice does not come your way, if so keep warm and stay off the roads)

appearance is deceiving ... it is often disguised as goodness and hope but it is just covering up for its own inaction ...

a very perceptive and well written poem ...
