So Why Figure We?

Our days are like a whispering wind,

which blow and blow unto their timely end.

Even our paths were lain before we even were,

as are our steps numbered here on this earth.

We strike out hands in vain against flesh and bone,

We, even in our finality, write our last poems in stone.

So why figure we

if we be so strong and mighty?

Why should tomorrow even be to us a concern,

if we in our haughty wisdom, are so able to discern.

For we are likened unto a green field of rye,

Whereas from seed and soil it sprung

Blessed and nurtured unto its maturity,

Only…oh only…to whither and die.

So why figure we?

As usual, you touch on spiritual truths, Allen. I always enjoy your work. Hope you'll read "Song of Leah" as I know you'll grasp the archetypes mentioned in the poem.

Great wisdom in this one Allen! I often wonder why it's so hard
for us to let go of the things of earth. Though it's all we've ever known, and that makes it difficult, yet we have Creators word that
what we have never seen is far better than what we have seen. I
guess familiarity is a comfort zone;-)

This is a spirtual question and I think that Felix perhaps put it correctly.

This is a deep spiritual write asking questions that can only be answered by the writers soul, but it does make the reader think and that serves it's purpose well. Great write.
