Peace Unknown

 Down by the rivers side,

A soft peace overflows

The bitterness of mind.

Currents here are measured

By an arbitrary tune

With solace secured,

By the call of a loon.

The water…the air

The shimmering sun,

Give way unto leisure

When this evening is done.

Times of trouble

And the troubles of time,

Have gone the way of the fallen leaf…

Over the rocks…and past the silent trees.

Soft pleasure is mine this day to keep

For this river, in its gentle flow

Has erased the previous days pain

And given unto me.... a peace unknown.

Nature, and often especially gently rolling rivers, truly can bring us the peace we seek. Glad you found some, J. Allen.

I too love the feeling of sitting by a lake, river or an ocean and I am fortunate to be close to all. I have made some of my most importat life decisions fishing at the end of the day as the sun goes down and your poem reminds me it's time to get back to that place real soon.

Yes... sometimes peace streams within us from a source unknown, or maybe just right in front of the eyes of our soul... beyond the visible. Then, sometimes, beautiful poems like this stream from the peace.

I wanted to include a photo I took at the river today, but the editor is acting up on me again...perhaps later.
