Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow

I left today, and returned unto yesterday,

all to change the course of tomorrow.

I arrived once more, where I had been before

Only to realize that it is still today.

For I had wished upon a silky dream,

longing for that which can no longer be seen.

I only to reason now, that yearning for yesterday,

gives me only a pause to the issue of today.

Therefore in a nay Sayers sense

nullifying any hopes of a brighter tomorrow.

For what used to be no longer, exist,

As I spin to and fro, from this sadness to bliss.

I strive to love and struggle live,

I misplace all to render peace and forgive,

Yet the past is ever near…but never present

And tomorrow has been negated by today.

So uncomforting is this theme,

That I think in the past I shall stay.

Yesterday is gone, withered away as the past, today is now a gift and a present, Tomorrow however is the unpromised future. A time and place that only God has the power to create.
Excellent poetry Allen.
