Oh Fool Am I
You…oh you…gave unto me this beam of fading light,
You held out promise of hope, even in the darkest of night,
Yet, still even as I seek, even still,
your whispers become the dawns early chill.
For I, oh simple me,
listened eagerly to you in my dreams.
Right away, even from the very start,
I dreamed of you and of your promise night and day,
Yet, now you come to me with your fading light,
going…oh going, from brightest of day to dullest of gray.
Oh, how your light falls now in broken slivers,
breaking the mind as an archer of doom set to deliver.
So why should I trust, tell me, why should I trust you this day,
When all that you have done, is to make hope seem further away.
Yet though the fool I am,
For I am lost in a foolish world that I thought gave a damn.
So send it on, send it tonight,
tease my spirit and curse my soul aright.
For I am the fool who did dare believe,
I am the fool living in a broken dream.
Oh can't you see…
What your hope has done for me?
Will you ever really understand,
That it was your false hope of light
which stole my true dreams from my very hands.
Nah, never, you do not even care…
For I am nothing but the fool,
That has sought what is right and fair.
Oh, fool am I…
Goodbye.
