Would You

Would you miss me if I were to become

the fading breath upon the passing wind?

Would you even once but to think,

That you may not know of me ever again.

For if, it was unto this night….

That I in the soft and stealthy quiet

Were to pass ever so silently away…

Would you… miss me this day?

If I were to take wings upon this vermilion breeze so fair.

Would you feign sympathy…would you even care?

Is this in vain and shallow remorse that I say…

Would you

Oh, would you miss me this day?

For that I, this He, this mortal of me,

Hath at last been suckled dry of the spirit

Through full and gapping wound

Only to find that he be bound by the chains

of the simpleton and the marquees fool.

So would you miss me…

if it be as written, beneath these pages obligatory and smitten?

Would it be so soon?

Or does fate betray the spirit

which cries in bewilderment from the dark side

of the remorseful would be moon.

We always wonder, don't we - have we made an impact? Have we made a difference? Would we be missed? Would we be remembered? Once again, well written, J. Allen.

God bless,

Sandie.

Allen, not only would a marvelous human being such as yourself be sorely missed if such a hideous event would befall them, also all of humanity, would be greatly diminished by the loss of such an unique individual, my gifted friend! One must often look deep within the “pool of sorrows” in order to find the true hidden joys that lie quiescent within its vast obscurities. Your powerful polished poetry has always stirred the flowing rivers of my being to its very core, and many, many times; I’ve found the true shinning light through the “dark side of the moon” by sitting back and enjoying your timeless creations! Thank you so much for sharing your brilliant mind and enduring well-crafted work. Take good care and be well.

As writers I think the most woderful thing in the world is that we leave behind a trail of out minds in our poems, prose, songs and stories. Your poem is it's own answer in that yes you will be missed but no you will be remembered always.
