Mama?

How long have you been gone mama?

How long have you now been dead?

Why is it that your last words, mama

Still burn like madness within my head?

Therefore, I ask you again mama

how long has it truly been?

A hundred weeks, a thousand months,

or a million years?

Can't you see…I recall no more that day

as I have in perpetual sadness lost my way.

For lost now are you in the memories of another time,

Buried deep within the recesses of my mind.

Unable now am I, to recount the actual years

For I can see nothing

Through the roaring flood of my tears.

You know mama, I spoke to you again tonight

And as always, you answered me not,

As I stood naked before you beneath the waning moons light.

So how long mama, will it be

Before I can lay to rest this memory?

How long mama

before your face I once more…see?

Mama?

I love the pictures and the questioning, longing words you put with them. I know that empty place. I spend too much time back at the little house with the Magnolia tree out front, when Mama and Daddy were there and all was safe.

Allen, this is an exceptional piece which strikes at the very foundation of human life. After all, without having “mothers” there could be no life. Unfortunately it seems as though when one seeks to find closure from the despondences caused by any “dysfunctional relationship,” it one often tends to reopen old wounds. Hopefully this is only fiction, but its message is loud and clear. Thanks for sharing it. Take good care and be well.

This is painful to read Allen, a call for recognition, that can no longer be satisfied. I hope if this is about you , that you find release. We can't change what was, but we can do better with what is.
"All because we do not carry , everything to Him in prayer"

Love,
Eileen
