Children Of Saturdays Sorrow

by J. Allen Wilson — Read all 1,629 poems by J. Allen Wilson

With the winds of change comes much pain. So much, pain that even rose colored glasses are unable to diffuse the truth of reality in the coming times.

Children Of Saturdays Sorrow

Twisted limbs hurled against ridged wall

Shattered minds render the reapers call.

Children of Saturdays sorrow slowly roast and burn,

Sweet smell of flesh released as the war machine turns.

White hot nights illuminate a weeping sky,

while nations fall prey to the days of our time.

The laughing lords lounge beneath a veil of indiscretion

giving forth their illusions unto the masses in search of direction.

Peace, peace they say, peace is on the way,

Just look and see…just follow me,

And I will bring you into your sanctified day.

Aye, but all lies they are… all lies,

Black vile lies, ripe with serpentine venom.

Words of unholy truth, predestined only to deceive,

meant to cause irrational favor for the black masses to believe.

Oh sweet smell of flesh…

In sorrows burn…

Death begets death

As the war machine continues to turn.

Allen, in grim strokes you've illustrated the tragedy spawned by all who say war is a necessary evil in the journey toward peace. You've done particularly well to prick at multiple senses with the tangible aftermath. Dawn

A formidable write Allen! You surely bring home the brutal horrific waste of war! Though sometimes necessary. It is hard to live with the results, and we can only pray that it ends soon. Though I doubt it! Our prayers and support for our fighting military are needed now more than ever. I hope all will pray for them daily!

Love,
Eileen

Good God above this is such an intense and perfect write that I am still trying to absorb it. The pictures, sights and even the smells that you have transmitted in this one linger on in the mind long afer you stop reading it. Powerful and strong statement my friend.

Geez, what goes on down there in the south, first Leah with her powerful poem of death and afterlife and now you with nuclear death, the skin burning off etc...a morbid weekend you all had, huh? Ed

War is such a horrible, horrible thing! The ones fighting the wars, are usually not the one deciding to have them. The loungeing lords, that sit laughing in climate controlled rooms are the ones that make those decisions, and yes!, I am of the opinion that those decisions are based mostly upon their own gain and self gratification, while they think they are deluding the people into believing their lies and hypocrosies. (of course I can be wrong)...anyway...lets love and make peace, not war! I love you, Leah
