Days without end...weeping into the night...

Tuesday, November 1, 2005

Baby

She whispered in somber mood those painful lines again,

Stark were they and foreboding… ripping at my very soul.

Born of darkness they were, yet plausible in the frailty of life.

So I, now of broken and groaning spirit openly cried.

I wept not for me, but for the tender love she showed.

I gave myself unto reasoning which gave no consolation.

I appealed to my desperate heart and found it already dead.

I listened as she spoke of the seasons, and pondered the days our life.

She said, Allen

“You know that our time fades quickly, much like the last light of the setting sun.

Our lives are intertwined in all that we are and do, yet separate unto one thing.

Therefore if it should be I who parts this bond first, rest assured, I will for thee wait.

I shall stand vigil on yonder shore

And I will watch for that glad day

When we will once again unite as one and unbroken.”

I looked at her and replied much to her disbelief…and said

“Baby, oh baby…if it be so, and you are the first to go

Then it is you who can be assured…your wait, I promise, shall be brief.

For without you, there are no more todays, and no more tomorrows,

No more reasons to carry on in a life built upon my sorrows.

For you are the very essence of my soul

You baby are, and always will be what makes me whole.”

This is beautiful, but my heart still has a pain in it from reading your words. It is also wonderful to know that you and Leah have this kind of love.
