Bitters Moon

The cold fingers of reality come hither,

bringing forth to the bitterness of truth.

Dreams and hopes are crushed beneath its sinewy grip,

leaving now a crumpled, and devastated heart as its mournful proof.

For all is lost and cast away, upon this dreamer’s lifeless sea.

And unto this understanding comes the dark truth of my reality.

What once was in sight, has now vanished upon a raging desert wind

With hope caught up like the tumbleweeds of yesterday,

forever rolling into the nothingness of no end.

Promises once made fall swift now between life’s bitter cracks

as the hope of a surer tomorrow gathers the cancerous yellow dust of yesterday.

I cry out now into the darkness of this desolate and neutered shame.

Therefore I look, I reach, all whilst failing hope which never came.

So unto this nuisance that cripples an already broken mind,

I give forth my misunderstood soul for a hardened world to see.

For I no longer seek acceptance, nor seek I the truth

as it is said unto this sorrows estate…

I shall die beneath this bitters moon.

such a powerfully reflective poem metabolizing nihilism and indifference, establishing their place in a world gone astray ...

This brings memories of the true romance of such epics as Arabian Knights and Omar Sharrif. What a great work and such truly vivid images.
