Timmy’s Journey
This is a tale of a little boy named Timmy. He was a shy little boy who lived in a world that was ruled by bears, but these were no ordinary bears. They had there own form of government with elected officials, teachers and everything that the people world had. How Timmy knew of this remains a secret today that I am on the verge of discovering. What we do know of Timmy’s tale comes from a diary that he kept beneath his pillow. The following are excerpts from his diary, the first entry dated June 3rd 1983 reads: "I went to the zoo today with daddy, we saw all sorts of animals and he bought me two chocolate shakes and made me promise not to tell mama."
Not much to go on by that first entry I admit but we must read on a little more to get an idea of what was influencing Timmy's life and what would eventually cause him to run away and join a renegade band of gypsy bears. Now you may ask who am I, and what could possibly convince me that this was indeed the case. You may also want to know why I am pursuing this so vehemently. I will tell you this, I am certain now after many months of diligent investigation that this is not an isolated case and that there are many young boys like Timmy who had indeed joined sides with a rebellious group of rouge bears. Oh, I never introduced myself, did I? My name is Sam S. Shertock and I’m a private investigator that was hired by Timmy's parents to find him. And no, I have not told them what I have found out thus far. But let’s read on to the next entry dated June 7th 1983:
"I went with mom to a yard sale today and we had lots of fun, mom bought some very fine china and some pretty knives and spoons. While she was doing that I just walked around and looked. They had some really neat junk around here, and then I saw him, he was sitting propped up on a stack of boxes. He was huge and fluffy and had two strange looking buttons for eyes. He had to be the ugliest teddy bear that I ever did see, but somehow I just knew that I had to have him, it was if he was calling my name in my mind. I asked Mom if I could have him and she said that she thought it looked kind of odd for a 14 year old boy to want a worn out over stuffed bear, but I insisted and I promised not to tell dad about all those plates and spoons she had bought. She agreed, and just like that, the old bear had a new home."
Now one would think that this would be the end of this unusual but rather ordinary tale, but let me tell you this, after some very intense investigative work I was able to build what we in the business call, “ A Scenario. “ It seems that there has been a saturation of sorts with these ugly button eyed teddy bears in strategic locations in many cities all across America. It also seems that young boys about Timmy’s age from all across have started showing up on the missing persons list in police stations everywhere. Some of you now may want to know if I have shared any of what I know with the authorities. Let me ask you. Would you go up to the Chief of Police in your town or city and tell him that you know what happened to little Bobby or little Stevie, and that they were alright except for the fact that they had joined up with the United Bear Movement and they may never return? Sure you would, and they would have you in the loony bin so fast, it would make your head spin. You may also ask what clued me in to making this sort of conclusion. Just bear with me…hahaha. No pun intended, for a little bit, while we delve into Timmy’s diary some more. Lets see, over here on page six, oh yeah here it is. June 21st 1983:
I have been hearing voices lately, I don’t dare tell Mom or Dad. I think I know where they are coming from, but I just can’t prove it right now. Odd thing though, I have been having cravings for honey buns, I hate honey buns.
Honey buns? No wonder the next three entries were difficult to read, they had all that gooey sugar all over the place causing the pages to stick together, however I digress. To get down to the meat of the matter Timmy went missing on Independence Day that same year as did seven thousand seven hundred and seventy seven other boys. If you will allow me to explain I will, but first you will have to promise not to breathe a word of this to anyone until I can get this entire thing sorted out in my own head…Do You Promise? OK, well from what I have been able to discover so far is….
to be continued…???
