The Ambiguity Of Our Times

Pervasive mockers rent of scorn

Come aught of a soulless humanity

Of which sinful depravity is born.

Oh lustful man filled of hateful spite,

Come all as eager bearers of destruction

Consuming that which is good and right.

Murders, rapist, liars and thieves

Populate this life and dispense much grief.

Slayers of righteousness they have become

Swallowing the last vestige of hope

Purloined now by shadows of a dying sun.

Oh how long will this of good sustain

that which those of meek rapport refrain.

For even the earth groans under the weight of sin

as it gives up its revelations of a nearing end.

There are wars, death, and destruction all around

and to the tides of perdition is the remnant of humanity bound.

Therefore be diligent and prepare thy way,

for the closing chapters read quickly of the final day.

Some may scoff; some may rebuke these words with disdain,

But the truth reveals itself in the blood of the innocent

which seek the truth and break asunder perditions chains.

Rev.6

[1] And I saw when the Lamb opened one of the seals, and I heard, as it were the noise of thunder, one of the four beasts saying, come and see.
[2] And I saw, and behold a white horse: and he that sat on him had a bow; and a crown was given unto him: and he went forth conquering, and to conquer.

[3] And when he had opened the second seal, I heard the second beast say, Come and see.
[4] And there went out another horse that was red: and power was given to him that sat thereon to take peace from the earth, and that they should kill one another: and there was given unto him a great sword.
[5] And when he had opened the third seal, I heard the third beast say, Come and see. And I beheld, and lo a black horse; and he that sat on him had a pair of balances in his hand.
[6] And I heard a voice in the midst of the four beasts say, A measure of wheat for a penny, and three measures of barley for a penny; and see thou hurt not the oil and the wine.
[7] And when he had opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth beast say, come and see.
[8] And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth.

Revelations is a forecast as sure as sunshine and rain. In today's world there is a bounty of beauty and kindness in the greater part of our world. War is headlined as much as beauty but unfortunately with families mourning the deaths of their sons and daughters the message becomes personal for war. As the headlines tell of the dead some become stale while other's are provoked to speak out . You are one of those who give us the desire to look at ourselves and take action before the percentages say we live in Hell today and tomorrow will be too late.
Thank you for an insightful pen.

I sadly see and hear the earth groaning more and more each day, J. Allen. Quite a powerful piece.

Ahhh Allen, there is a lot of truth in what you say I must concede but...
I do also believe that all hope is not lost, when I pick up my gurgling giggling grandaughters and hear them say "I love you Poppy", when I see the flowers of spring painting their own landscape of colour, when I see random acts of kindness performed by strangers to strangers, when I see the sun rise in the morning and the stars glitter at night...even as an agnostic I have to believe in God and his hope for mankind. Great work Allen.
