Things Unseen

by J. Allen Wilson — Read all 1,629 poems by J. Allen Wilson

I will never surrender the hope of peace, despite the carnage and destruction of the soul that the purveyors of darkness desperately seek. For it is by love that we shall overcome…by simple unadulterated love.

Things Unseen

I want to once again see those things unseen,

And behold the gilded glory of my fleeting spiritual dreams.

For I once stood in a forest at the edge of heavens door,

Yet now my visions have been clouded by the inhumanity of war.

I remember the once fresh, green, and graceful rolling hills

And I look now in horror as they have now turned to a dying desert

brought forth by the evil consummation of man and his will.

Now little remains of those once placid and peaceful times

Back then, back when the realm of goodness came forth like a sweet wine.

I pray now aloud these days, and often for the masses openly weep,

Yet even still I fail to find that gentle peace that so many desperately seek.

For if I could but lend to a few the visions of my spiritual dreams

If I could but give to all who ask, those things unseen,

Then I standing once more at the edge of heavens door,

Could welcome home the hurting and suffering

And give unto them the solace that they forever seek….

Or… I could just pick up these rose colored glasses of indifference

and put them on so that when I view life it does not appear to be bleak…

Rose colored glasses only mask the tears...take them off and see the world more clearly. Hang tight to those shreds of hope.

your conviction is like a magnet, Allen, and every time I read one of your poems I am compelled to go forth and be a better person, more aligned with goodness and grace. Dawn

No, don't pick up those glasses, too many already wear them. We rather you stay the way you are and keep on writing the way you do, deeply touching. You never know what and who you might put into motion! A wonderful prose,

You touch the heart and soul deeply with this poem Allen! Please leave the glasses off, for you are a strong force for the Lord and he needs you to see His way!Thank you for sharing His glory!

Well said. One thing to be said about this life appearing to be bleak. It accentuates the glory of Heaven. You would give this peace to all but our Lord has taught us that even if one be saved that is a wonderful task. Leave those rose colored glasses alone. They cloud your vision
On a scale of one to ten I give this writing a 10+
God Bless,
Lew

We have a good world ion spite of all the suffering and we do welcome our brave home in a positive way here in Macon. The world cab get ugle and ot's ip to us to paint the picture brighter so we can get the healing we all can use.Put those rose colored glasses on and see a positive world. Most of this wonderful earth is positive and I think if we dwell on the positive for a change then the energy will quicken to a new and positive world. We have a "Good news" station here in middle Georgia and it sure makes a difference in my day and outlook for tomorrow.
Great was to spirit us J. Allen. I like this side of you.

It is never too late for hopes and dreams, no matter what they are. When we stop believing and hoping our dreams will come true, whether it be for simple life pleasures, love or world peace, it is then that we have stopped living. Very nice Allen.

Utopia. A noble endeavor. Usually a crashing defeat.

It all looks so bleak, but....With all crises, they must get worse before they get better.

:) Keep looking upward
