Southern Nights
The liquid air of a languid Southern night
Hung like a sweet vapor casting its aura on the pale moonlight.
Fireflies danced merry amidst the darkened wood of the old magnolia trees
Blinking in and out brightly on the soft scents of a Southern summer’s breeze.
Pleasant of days past dreams drifted lazily upon the soul so sweet
Delivering now unto the ponderous heart, delicacies so fine to keep.
The moon in its wisdom smiled from behind its shear lace shroud,
And I the solitary dreamer came into a soft and simple peace
A peace, long forgotten, one which was once lost,
But now in the heat of an August night it has been found.

Here we go again.
I love the colors of the woodstorks...my favorite bird of all times. I was drawn to them right away and then, when I read your pen...I was overwhelmed by the smells of the south and the humidity that I wish for and then...the night. There's nothing to compare with a southern night. For our friends who've never expienced them...your words give rise to all the passions and emotions that make the south a wonder of this world.
Thank you for the beauty of my home. I miss the coast ...even the sandgnats.
Peace and love and good old southern harmony!
Susan
Lovely, engaging write, Allen.

And when you come into the light....you find yourself..
Delicate and beautiful offering..
And I love those pink flamingos..
