Ancient Dragons Of The Mind

A thick heaviness hangs impudently to the evening air.
As a swift recourse falls quiet unto resurrections dare.
Days which were once lost in the blinding sea of rage,
come now full circle in the setting of life’s final stage.
I look now without through the windows of ageless time
and I am humbled by the aggressions of the soulless mind.
I watch as a dark army assails the lost with its soldiers so vast
and I pray the prayer of forgiveness as I watch man in his silent past.
For he that was before has become likened to those which are of today.
And little is the difference to what the man in lust of the flesh does crave.
For depravity of the spirit knows neither the day nor the hour,

as we like little children fall victim to the victimless in power.

For we are to sleep with shadows of another time

We are to slay ancient dragons which roam the mind

Oh but to chase the intrepid solider of misspent youth

To challenge unholy principles masked as truth.

Oh, but to all of this which came upon our misshapen and fallow ground

All from black diatribes of a renunciation too soon found.

Oh come now the children of a dark and weary time.

Oh come now the children from the blood

which falls now like leaves from dying trees,

Oh but to scourge the spirit of man

as he in his false generation to one spirit cleaves.

WoW Allen

You take us deep within the psyche and subconscious of Man..
All is relevant before God !

Allen, I'm not sure what you wrote that made Ed think you were smoking something except possibly from too much reality. Man is a complex being, isn't he? Man does crave in lust and it does lead to wars and rumors of wars as well as each personal fault of each of us. It starts out as a small thing and grows. I think your poem said a lot and we can learn from it.
God Bless,
Lew

That, my dear friend, Al, is not something to comment on after only one reader, but if I were to do so, I would have to say I am thoroughly lost...that is way too heavy for one as illiterate in the ways of your kind of poetry, to make any comment/review, as I am...but if I were, again, I will say this is some heavy freakin' stuff, what have you been smokin' down there in the distant & deep, deep south...powerful...Ed
