Breathless

Of what is this, thy breath?

But that of a fragile invisible sigh.

What is this thy breath but the whisper,

which separates the living from those who have died.

For it is all without thought of will or of a mind which heeds.

That thy breath comes and goes,

but eventually one day it will permanently leave.

Our days now are constant, and our thoughts are not once

Given over unto this force of life to which we need.

Therefore when the night gathers and the silence is all around

Listen to the gentle whisper as it escapes its mortal bound.

Listen to its lingering, exasperating sigh

and greet the new beginning as your breathless

spirit sheds the garment of mortality

and dons immortality with its shining new light.

Beautifully written: spirit sheds the garment of mortality and dons immortality with its shining new light.
And what a beautiful day that will be:
God Bless,
