Morning Kiss
The sweet kiss of morning falls gentle on the lips of my dream.
She stirs but a little, but then smiles as my hands caress her form
which lies beneath fresh laundered sheets.
The window fan emits a soft and gentle hum,
And the song birds outside with sweet joy sing.
Summer has now escaped us on our calendar of perpetual time,
yet the fall of our mornings youth this day so did shine.
With her golden tresses woven tight around the girth of my arm,
I am helpless as she brings me to my knees with all her southern charm.
For in all these years, with so many summers gone past,
She, my sweet Leah has shown unto me that true love does indeed last.
I once thought that love was fickle and fleeting at best,
but she showed me that I was wrong
and that to my weary heart, I could at last give rest.
For she is my sweet kiss, and she is my dream,
and we shall forever abide….
