So Come If You May…

by J. Allen Wilson — Read all 1,629 poems by J. Allen Wilson

Last Post from Jekyll for the time being. I shot this photo just as the sun set behind a grove of palms…a rather fitting temporal end to a glorious day. Peace and Blessings to you all.

So Come If You May…

It has been said before that all good things must someday come to an end. However, even though the darkness approaches and the shadows call out my name. I see not the darkness, nor do I feel the shadows cold reproach. I only see that something new is about to begin. So I look yonder and see the receding light, and see not the darkness, but something new and aright. Though for a moment our journey has come to a temporal end, I shall wait not for the coming morrow, nor shall I fall septic by the darkness again. For it is I who watches you, as you lie in wait and watch for me. It is I who now steals your sight as you yearn in secret for the call of your time and fate. So sweep softly in from the now silent and darkening east if you may. For I have seen past your inky barrier unto a new tomorrow. Though you approach to rob sight of the glory of today, I in the end of my journey to the light, have found the secret to an eternal day. So come if you may, and stay as long as you can, but I shall not see nor feel you as I have at long last reached through your curtain and took hold of the spirit of this simple man.
