Asphalt Rhapsody

Dark, smooth; cool reflections of neon cast.
Harpsichords of muted glows magically stream past.
A flowing symphony dressed on shadows of black.
Memories played to aqua tunes from a hidden past.

Reds and greens shimmer on a sleek moving stream.
Moving, keeping time, laced with yellows on a nights dream.
Soft tread of grooved polymer making tracks sings along.
Wipers keeping time to midnight’s rhapsodies asphalt song.

Bulbous dark clouds on a pink horizon grow.
Reflections of city lights captured now unto the nights glow.
Oh rhapsodies wave comes now cool, smooth and black.
Memories fond still trickle as into the night I journey back.

I recall the lights over LA when I lived in Cally and the way the car headlights raced down the hill in surrealistic neon. Great technicolor memory... Thanks to you.

Focussed write that draws the readers senses into the same picture that the authour sees through his windshield. Well done.

One can actually picture a drive through the rain here in your imagery and flow. The rhythm of your poem seems to take the beat from the wipers. Well done, J. Allen!

J.

This was so cool. I love the word usage and the visuals. There's alot of miles within your Rhapsody. A sure bet to take on the road.
