Unshackled

by J. Allen Wilson — Read all 1,629 poems by J. Allen Wilson

Another acquaintance that once was, but is no more.
Has cast off the shackles of this world and left for something greater in store.
She wasn’t old…in fact a little younger than me…but now she has left this world
and to another she is now free…Catch you latter Bobbie…save Leah and me a table will ya?

Wednesday, February 28, 2007

She sleeps softly now on a passing wind.
gone is she across rivers wide never to return again.
Her latter days were much filled with travail and strife.
She was too young to leave, too soon to have died.

Her dreams were with visions from across the great divide.
The Santa Anna winds were to her once sweet memories

And the comfort of the San Joaquin valley her taste and pride.

From Stockton to Bakersfield, with Fresno to make it complete.

She relieved her childhood on the Kaweah and rivers Kings.

Yet she is now but a whisper that caresses the valley floor.

And to those that knew her, they will always remember her forevermore.

a beautiful and inspired tribute ... it's a difficult affair losing friends who mean so much to us ... at least now, she knows the answers from across the great divide ...

Wow this is just splendid. When we write exactly the way we want and how we exactly feel then we all can relate or feel it. it is always an indeed pleasure to read your poetry especially ones with so much meaning and easy to understand. Keep writing and never stop. Love Aleja Bennett.

Sweet caring tribute to a friend and someone you obviously felt a lot for. You do have a way to make her passing sound like the reward it is truly meant to be. Sorry for your loss Allen.
