Testimony

by J. Allen Wilson — Read all 1,629 poems by J. Allen Wilson

A little long, but needed in order to say what needs to be said…poem to follow.

Prayer, does it work? Is it our uncertainty in things we can’t explain and the obvious manifestation of pain itself that causes doubt thereby weakening a sometimes already fragile faith? Is healing of not only spirit but of body for today?

From where I stand now, the answer is a resounding YES! I am what many may call just a plain saltine cracker in that my experience with God has been in believing yet somehow not receiving the fullness thereof.

On or about the first of April my left foot began to swell. The pain was excruciating and no matter how much I stayed off of it or how many times I soaked it, it never got any better. Upon our return from vacation I went to the doctor and was told that I needed to see a vascular surgeon. Seems they thought I needed heart surgery to heal a bum foot. What I needed did not come of this world, but of a world that exist in the hearts and minds of believers.

Though I know of the things of God and believe; my faith has not been considered a strong point in my walk with God when it comes to the supernatural power of God. To make a long story short and get to the point. On 4/17/07 I attended a bible study conducted by my wife’s mother. It was there that the ladies of the bible study gathered around and prayed down the heavens for my healing. I then hobbled home on a cane which had become my new best friend and went to bed. Next day…same thing…same pain.

It was not until I acknowledged in a poem (Supplications Of Eight) that evening which I posted to the den that things began to change. After posting the poem I retired to the recliner to watch some TV and elevate my foot. About thirty minutes after posting this poem the sole of my swollen foot felt like it was on fire. It was burning as if hot coals had been placed on the bottom…hot almost to tears hot. It frightened me at first until Leah told me what was happening…the supplications and prayers of the faithful both here and abroad had started a work in me that amazes me still. The swelling left my foot within a half hour. It is still a little sore from trying to walk only on the heel, but something without a doubt manifested itself that night. I know many of you will say as I have said before…(sure..ok..) But it is so and it is to God be the glory…thank you all for your prayers…Allen

Testimony

To test of this the heart, to reveal of this the soul.

To deliver from infirmities grip, to make me whole.

Wide eyed amazement dances wild in my mind.

Healing, the children’s bread becomes my substance.

Touch by God Almighty across the eternal realm of time.

Now though this heart was taught of His love from its youth.

Though it knew of healing and deliverance, upon its flesh comes now its proof.

Though the grasp of darkness came to cripple this body of mine.

The sickness which came to cling has been cast out now that glory may shine.

Yet many there are which shall say this testament bares no proof.

Many will say to claim as such comes across arrogant and aloof.

Yet to this, and all that know me, I bow now in sincere humility.

For it is of my eyes that I did see and with all my heart I do believe.

Amen Allen! This is a fine poem and a powerful testimony to your faith in the One who suffered and defeated death for us. In 1988, when I was laying in the emergency room with a broken neck and broken back, my family was told I would not live and that if by chance I did, I would be a quadraplegic. Well, I have titanium rods in my back and a plate in my neck and I live a perfectly normal life with zero disability of any kind. So, I know the healing power of God through prayer in a very personal way. Great inspirational piece!

Praise God for your healing, Allen. I believe God can do anything. There are no limitations. That might sound strange coming from a hear patient. The truth is he heals physically whom he will. He heals spiritually whom he will. I pray for spiritual healing for it lasts forever. If God heals my body it will grow old and die anyway. If he heals my spirit nothing can get me down. He still heals if for no other reason than to show that he is still here even though many have asked him to leave. I am glad he healed your foot and I wish you all the best.
God Bless,
Lew

Is there anything more powerful than the power of prayer, especially with the internet and the way word can pass in chains around the world in a matter of minutes. Even when we feel we haven't given enough or don't really feel we have earned or deserve it, it comes if it is to be. Inspiring, Allen, and believe me, I have witnessed it first hand in th elife of my older son.

Taylor
