Dusty Back Roads Of The Past
Tiny whispers gather on the dusty back roads of another time.
Gypsum and feldspar collate on the elapsing shelves of my mind.
Small streams trickle distant, feigning albeit a mighty raucous roar.
Rusty barbed wire wends its way along muted fence rows evermore.
Cotton dust swirls with the dust devils on the lonesome road ahead.
Silver lights refractions dance slow on the tin roof of an old tool shed.
The morning’s heat climbs with the sun in a madding dash to the west.
Dusty back roads of my past, memories tiled in youth’s convenient best.
Oh so long ago did this road I go… oh so long ago on my childhoods golden dreams.

Oh so long ago, for so many of us! And those truly were The Good Old Days.
