A Hundred Smiles; A Thousand Tears

To shun this heart which steals upon the dying wind
Is to bring to light all that is and all that ever was to end.

A Hundred Smiles; A Thousand Tears

A dark covering has overtaken this writer in his earthly quest.
Signs of things to come and things, which are soon to end, steal my zest.
A million words on paper, is but the same as a million miles of nothing.
My thoughts and dreams; my hearts simple desire; come naught of poetry that dies beneath vanities sea.

A hundred smiles and a thousand tears have come my way throughout the years.
Friends I’ve made, some now gone; I linger still, yet with now vanquished fear.
I wonder now if there is anything that is left to say, anything undone to come my way.
How many more lines can I from broken words create, if all is said and done at the end of the day?

I have been here in this den going on five years, yet I see now the nearing end.
The questions come and questions go; should I stay, or should I…?
The answers are never simple, and the words are becoming too few.
I think I have nothing left, reality has manipulated my dreams to where nothings new.

It’s been fun; it’s been a real blast; but like all things good; I knew it wouldn’t last.
I’ll hang on; I’ll search my heart for new beginnings once again.
I’ll continue to believe that even I will find hope in writing words worthwhile
And that meaning will overcome the shallow current that steals my hearts smile.

You are the inspiration who stimulate novice like me to believe we can write, and sometimes we do well. Although I am still reading the Carolina Knolls Mystery, I will look forward to some more of your talent aterwards. It's your Spirit.

sometimes change is necessary but i hate to think of poets leaving places they are loved and even worse would be poets who no longer write... well done

I've only read your work for a short time, but I enjoy what I've read! You would surly be missed if you leave. I agree with the others it is a wonderful place to read, write, and meet friends from al lwalks of life. After reading your work, I am sure that you've got much still to say...write on my friend you have readers that are eager to read! Hope you decide to stay around for the long haul!
Blessings,
Joyce B.

My dear friend, while I do not feel the exact same way, I do however feel where you coming from to a greater degree than you might think...But in so doing I have to say and with all honesty, you damn well better NOT be thinking of leaving as I have grown attached to you as has Rufuz and we want to meet you one day in person, you old fart...In sincere friendship, Ed & rufuz

J. Allen,

I know how you feel. Please: keep writing. It isn't easy living the curs'd life of a Poet, you certainly don't get rich...trust me. But: would I trade this long, strange journey (since 2001)? NOT ON YER LIFE. Writing is worth it: I've gained friends, and honed my craft. Have a long way to go...until I breathe my last, I will not give up. Don't you, either: powerful, reflective soul searching write. Well done.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

Brother, I can relate, and I haven't been here near that long, I see you have been very prolific during my 90 day sabatical from the den and the other sites I write on. I hate to see you go, as it is a consolation that there are more that speak His truth, and you do so in dignity, and integrity; the excellence that you bring to all that you do, will be sorely missed by this writer and friend.
