When Dreams Were Castles
You dreamed a hundred castles, you dreamed of finer things.
You held out against all odds and found the joy that true love brings.
Yet long before when dreams were castles and you cried a million nights.
You watched with a virgin heart as hope mounted on wings and took flight.
You stood beneath the mighty gates with the hurtful tears streaming down.
You felt of a gentle life cheated as the tears of your soul hit the ground.
Alone in the coldness of the shadows of your pain, you looked up and softly prayed.
You begged no longer of castles, nor of finer things, but only, only for the darkness to roll away.
A thousand days in bitters pain you wept; a hundred times you died.
You sought only absolution from the hundred castles that filled your mind.
Silence soon became you as you walked barefoot across the crystal sea.
Joy soon unspeakable consumed you when your eyes beheld the parting of the clouds and a man that hung upon a tree.
Two thousand years, the eclipsing of a single day.
The imparting of this truth led to the finding of your way.
So whereunto should this dream recede that met the sum of your need?
Should not it be when dreams were castles and when you found true love at the foot of that old rugged tree?
