Time Revealed

I have seen much as the days of time undresses before my very eyes.

I as the solitaire observer watch until both time and I stand naked and alone.

I look around in shame and see the garments of my dreams askew on the floor.

Stark reality sets in from its innocuous point of view and whispers “nevermore”

Tears now fall like silver shadows from the glass planes’ of my chiseled face.

Hot stones lie scattered about the surface of this most forbidden place.

I look again at time and in the lapse of a blink; its flesh has turned to bone.

Fear grips my beating heart as I reach down to gather my dreams and find them gone.

I look back at where time had stood and I find it now erased.

I searched further past this place and beheld a field of green.

It was here in this field I saw a young lad of perhaps twelve or thirteen.

His face shone like the sun as he ran sprightly through the tall grass alone.

I knew at once who he was; I could tell from the dreams that he wore.

They were the same garments that were mine just moments before.

I brought my gaze away from this place so very long ago.

I then turned back to this present moment for I knew that soon it would be with time I would go.

Then I heard once again a whisper, this time from a mound of ash.

“Nevermore my son, nevermore; nothing is really meant to last….

J. Allen, yes, time is fleeting and in a blink of an eye...we one day look into the mirror and see another face starring back at us. You've captured a sceniro here that touched this readers heart. Thanks for sharing.

Time truly does have a way of getting away from us all, and how sadly true, nothing lasts forever.

I see a lone figure of a man upon the dunes. He is gazing at the Atlantic in a mesmerized way and often times I've been right here to see him come again and again and I wonder....is his mistress the sea?

Love the poem.
