Be Still And Know...

by J. Allen Wilson — Read all 1,629 poems by J. Allen Wilson

This will be my last entry for a while. We will be leaving in a few days to embark on a new journey. … At last the time is upon us as we head into what will hopefully be an exciting adventure of discovery and renewed spirit. We should return home by mid September.

It was last November when we were notified that our portfolios submission had been chosen and that we were selected to be representatives in the South Carolina State Parks Artist In Residence Program.

Ahh, nothing but woods, streams, lakes and isolation await us (no TV, No phones, No Internet). Both Leah and I are really looking forward to this experience and pray that it will be both fruitful and rewarding. In the time being, I will miss reading the really good work here in the den as well as contributing. Until we meet again my friends… Good Night and God Bless you All.

Poem Artwork

Shades of cool green bleed into yellows and reds.

Pines sweet smell; rushing waters full of liquid dreams.

Soft are the sights and smooth the tender sounds.

A new day risen with hope; idyllic is life’s gentle dream.

So rest this spirit as beneath the canopy its aura falls.

Peace sought in seclusion; quietness abounds…”shhhh, did you hear that?”

“I thought I heard the voice of God Call…”

Psalms 46:10

“Be still, and know that I am God…”

I have always chosen to ignore those who crave attention such as “Polly Anna” or whoever he may be next week, yet I felt the need to express to other den members that he is like a child who craves attention be it negative or positive. I by no means think he should be ostracized for having an opinion for I am a firm believer in free speech. You should not stop the freedom to express an opposing view point no matter how coarse or banal it may be…Therefore I shall choose to support his right to be stupid all the while IGNORING HIM…when attention he seeks does not come, then neither shall his asinine comments to others…take care and YES…GOD BLESS
