Leah; Savannah and Veiled Dreams

by J. Allen Wilson — Read all 1,629 poems by J. Allen Wilson

Today’s words flow with unease from this my burdened heart and I apologize and pray your forgiveness as I spill my heart out onto the printed page. I have often heard it said that writing out your feelings helps one deal with the tender subjects of pain. I am in hope that this is indeed the realization and that I will better be able to focus and bring into existence the thinly veiled cusp of dreams that still lay on a distant horizon. For it was but this Friday on Leah’s routine medical exam she received less than favorable news. It was nothing of immediate in your face concern, but to quote the doctor “It is a worrisome indicator of things that bear grave concern to come”

However disheartening this news was to her and me, we shall never give up hope. We will together strive to see this through and unto triumph. She will win and our hearts shall rejoice. Nevertheless, when one feels this sting not only does the heart heave and slow, but the thoughts of dreams that still lay in wait, the ruminations of hope; aspirations which still remain unfulfilled crowd an already crowded mind. Some of our dreams are simple, yet others remain more complex and elusive. For example, Leah who is a self taught artist has always dreamed of attending the “Savannah College Of Art And Design” yet between raising a family and a husband, this hope has become more and more distant.
Yet we still hope and dream for that day, perhaps it shall not be for a full term as we so oft dreamed, but a mere semester that would bring about a sense of fulfillment.

I could go on and on about the hopes and dreams, but I will not. It’s just that these thoughts of things unfinished perplex my soul and cause it much grievance. Therefore I implore ye who pray to do so with hearts sincere so that joy unspeakable will shine forth from this ordeal so that dreams…even those who remain elusive shall at last be fulfilled.

Sincerely and most humbly…Allen

Poem Artwork

Leah; Savannah and Veiled Dreams

What my love shall I withhold from thy hand?

What more can I do or say so that my love should move this land?

For your dreams so sweet lie on the soft thin veils of a future time.

And I, oh I in my miserable way fall short in my deliverance to you so kind.

Therefore if I could but barter with God; I would give you my days which are due.

If I had another ten or twenty years, though I know not my day or time…

I would with gladness of heart and rejoicing of soul give them all to you.

Yet my love, I know that of these things I have not any control.

Evermore then it should and even in this that to God we should extol.

So take comfort my love and know that to you I shall always cleave.

Take comfort in knowing that somehow I will rip asunder the veil which hides your dreams.

My Love To You Always Leah…My Love Pure And True.
