Humor or impending horror? A feeding frenzy on senior day.
parallels in studied human behavior made…
yup…its horror alright.

I Saw The Future Today & It Wasn't A Pretty Sight

I saw mine and Leah’s future today

at the Golden Corral senior buffet.

There were walkers and canes

and ladies with purple hair galore.

There were pot bellied old men

Circling this carnivorous den,

They were eyeing fried pork chops and shouting

More… more… give us seniors some more.

We found a table and sat way in the back,

I watched an old man wrestle with his cane

while trying to load his plate with half a rack.

I looked at Leah, and she looked at me,

and I told her the whole complete truth.

I said “you see that man and woman sitting over there?”

She said “no,”

I said “sure you do, she has a red hat and purple hair.”

“Oh yes, now I see” said she,

“what about them that of you causes intrigue?”

“Oh nothing Leah…Oh nothing,

but for just a moment I thought they were you and me.”

Oh my soul, dark forebodings indeed, myself if at all possible would rather starve to death in my last days in the middle of the bush and let the wolves have a treat, it should be good for them for I lived on healthfood most of my life, and like to give something back to nature except smoke and ashes Ha! the kids don't like that Idea, and I wont be around to.... Another great write! Jasmin Horst

Actually, you saw me and my husband. lol

I keep saying "I didn't expect to get old this soon." I know exactly what your poem is saying and how it feels.

It is amazing sometimes how the mind and our eyes play tricks on us. Why just the other day I looked in the mirror and it looked like I had no hair..no wait a minute I don't have no hair...lol

Humor or impending horror?

I truly believe, a bit of both, my friend. And I do the same thing to my wife, just about every time we go anywhere these days - and she now truly hates it. But if I don't think about how humorous it is, it could very quickly turn to horror. For me, laughter is always the better medicine, and far less bitter a pill to swallow.

Made me cringe and laugh. My wife and I have been there and have seen the future, too. Enjoyed the humor that tempers horror. - David

I resemble your remarks. My wife and I are already there, but we rebel against the stereotype. Although we're that old, I hope we never settle to be placed in that mold. I greatly enjoyed your very cute poem.

In a way a cute write, but in a way very sad. Our society has all but made a mockery of our senior generation. The Golden Corral across the country has become their watering hole, don't go there anymore. Cute write though....

Be safe,
Karen

No Joke! I have clients in Sun City and when I have early appointments I stop by McDonalds for an iced coffe. There are golf carts lined up with their own signage and while looking in my rear view mirror there she was...your little old lady with purple hat and abnormally red dyed hiar. She was about 85 and so cute with her sunglasses with palm trees on each side of her face.

Gold carts rule the day down there and have the right of way.

We are all part of this lemming parade.
Love and blessings!
Susan
