Oh October Blue

 Oh October Blue

October blue fills the cool sky.

Old men fishing talk of days gone by.

“Rivers down”…said one old man; to which the other replied…

“Yep we git another month like this, its gonna be plum dried”

Rocks jut where water once flowed.

Limbs protrude of trees fallen long ago.

No more the swift flowing of a cool stream.

Tis now just now a trickle beside the expanding grassy green.

Oh October Blue…not a cloud in the sky.

Oh October blue beside a river gone dry.

Allen & The Poetry Corner Goes On Location to the Saluda River mentioned in the above poem with his recitation of “The Choir Sang with Amazing Grace…Pardon the sound of the river in this since I was unable to mask it…but you might like to hear it instead of me…LOL Oh, there’s a guy fly fishing in the background. Hope you enjoy my backyard J

You have really captured the harshness that nature can give us. It makes me wonder sometimes if is isn't a sort of punishment for all the neglect we have served...

Be safe,
Karen

It is sad, but true. Many of our water resources are drying up. It's getting pretty scary.

October blue, indeed. The fall colors are burning their brightest here in West Virginia. And the sky seems to be more intense to keep up with it. You don't see this deep blue any other time of the year. Come the winter, it will turn pale.

The good and positive thing about a dry river bed is the life that is resurrected when the rains come, and they will. I always enjoy your pens. I can see the red clay now. It's in your veins.
Love and blessings,
Susan
