Poem Artwork

TAP…TAP…TAP

Eyes wide open, nary a light to see.

Smells exhumed moist; exotic rich is the earth.

Silence hums in an ever darkened dream.

Tap…Tap…Tap; encased, secure.

Voice screams; no one to hear.

Tap…Tap…Tap; life flashes to a blur.

Ears ring; suffocation comes slow.

Trapped resignation; fears now grow.

Footsteps crunch softly somewhere above.

The dark silence ensues; coldness comes.

Tap…Tap…tap…

Puts me in mind of a Hitchcock movie of some kind, so much so that it could produce nightmares on this end...I won't read this one to Rufuz, he is too young and impressionable...;) Ed

Gee, this does carry an eerie tingling to it, one that we do not usually experience, nicely written...

Be safe,

This reminds me of something Edgar Allan Poe would have written...nice work.

A claustrophobic feel to this pen, J.Allen. POWERFULLY effective!

I'm trying to catch my breath reading this. The overwhelming fear that you generate in your words is eerie. You gave my emotions a jolt J.Allen.
Love and blessings!
