You Don't Know Me?

You Don’t Know Me?

You say you don’t know me, nor have you ever.

Yet you only lie to yourself in thinking you’re so clever.

Yes I do exist and have since the beginning of time.

I dwell in the secret places of both your heart and mind.

No, I’m not the devil, though many have thought us to be akin.

Keep on guessing, go on now, give it a try, who knows, you may win.

_ _ _ _ _ _ _?.....Is that the best you can do?

Here simple man, let me give you a clue.

I’ve been known forever by many a name.

I’ve brought upon man much sorrow and shame.

I live only in where secret your darkness dwells.

Now think man… think, does any of this ring a bell?

No you say…Hmm you’re slower than I thought.

My name starts with the letter I, and from it all things are sought.

No, wrong…wrong again, you’re confusing me with my twin.

For he only lives in the light and into his house I may never enter again.

He says that I corrupt the pureness of man and his lucid thought.

He says I should be cast down to nether places and brought to a halt.

Ah, but what does he know, I make mystery part of my show.

I give to you that adrenalins rush; I excite, I please, and I bring pleasure with the simplest touch.

Aw come on now and just imagine…oops now that was too big of a clue.

Yep, you got it now; I’m imagination from which all things come due.

My list of credits goes on and on; with Power, Lust, and Greed; and all the black thoughts that fill your need.

I am the sum of most simple man, a most gullible creature to which I give a hand.

He is an empty shell without me, no thought, no purpose; a soul with need.

Oh yes, a brother I have indeed, but what you don’t know is we were born Siamese for though we live separate, we share the same heart.

Now go on and try to imagine the light without the dark.

Ta Ta, I’ve got to run…come back another time when you want to have some fun.

****Imagination truly is a wonderful gift, but it must be kept in check and reigned in lest it travel the slippery slope of darkness and the heart falls in to the perverse black abyss. ****

I've witnessed this happening when creativity sinkd to the abyss. There's nothing like imagination in a child. It's pure genuis at every glimmer of light in their eyes. Why oh why do we harden so as we mature. Without the awe of the child saved in us...we do sink.

Happy New Year J. Allen and Leah!

Love and blessings.

An extremely interesting write. We are all writers here. What would a writer be with an imagination. The wonderful thing is when you write even the dark side in fiction it will show us to be what we are.
God Bless,
Lew
