Growing Older

With my birthday just a few weeks away; reflections of a life lived course through my mind. I ponder what was and rejoice in what will be.

Growing Older

Growing older for me means waking up the next day more thankful than the day before. Thankful in that one more chance has been given to make this day better than the ones that preceded this one.

Thankful in that I can say I love you yet another time to my wife. Thankful in watching the blessings of the day arrayed in bountiful colours unfold before me. Thankful in that once more I may hear the sound of life as it mills about me oblivious to whom I am.

For growing older is not a time to fret nor is it to be worn with the garment of despair.

It is to be celebrated with the expectation that hope still breathes and that dreams still come true .

Nay should this spirit weep before the passing of yet another day; but it will rejoice and be glad; for it is through God’s grace that He saw fit to grant me this chance once more. Oh this chance to see; to touch and to feel the warmth of life; a life which by Him is given more abundantly.

Growing older means I am alive and though there may be many hardships which come my way; I shall not acquiesce to surrender my heart to the passing of night, but I shall rejoice at the rising sun and I shall once more strive to make this day better than the one before.

Your life's philosophy mirrors mine. Each day that I live gives me another opportunity to grow, share love, and strive to make a better me all for His glory.

God bless you. Kathy

A profound write my friend...one that we can relate to for we are all growing older day by day, and with the passing of time comes the appreciation for life in a special way. I know I cherish the small things much more than before, things such as the sun on my face in the morning, the smell of the fresh plowed earth each planting season, time with my family...time sure does pass quickly...advise to all ages....enjoy each and every day make the most of every minute of our life, for we never know when our time will come. A wonderful write!
Blessings,
Joyce B.

Do we grow older or do we become wiser than the day before. Your wisdom is as eveident as the day does wane instead of blossoms...but...there are those great times when it is such a golden day that we energetically become new again.
love and blessings!

Allen, this is truly a touching inspiring writing and yes, when we leave it up to God, He'll wipe the fear from our hearts and allow us to feel the sunshine and soak up the beauty of the moment. A wonderful writing.

Wonderful way to look at life. Like you I awaken everyday grateful for another day, I thank God for each day, hour, moment, second even each breath I take and most of all to see the wonders of his creation.
God Bless,
Lew

Nice write, Allen, but for me growing older proves that once you are retired, it gives you a good feeling when you don't have to explain to some young snot-head why you were five minutes late. Oh, and a lot other things to.

Cheers, and keep getting older,
Dan

This is truly beautiful, and speaks such words of wisdom, for they are words that we all should live by with the passage of time.
