Muted Hope
It was 4am and I was all alone when I raised my voice on high.
The plea was returned to sender; the silence but mocked my cry.
Why oh Lord, I cried once again; why now the sore troubles which cripple these my times?
Did you not say that you would never put more on me than I could handle?
Yet I tremble now within my soul; I beg of you that sweet mercy once again with me abide.
For muted hope has withdrawn from battle, she willingly surrendered her headless steed.
Only you now oh Lord can serve this my feeble plea; only in sweet mercy can grant substance to this my need.
I understand not in the least why this should come my way.
I am exhausted and feel that I should not even make another day.
I used to think I was strong; I thought I could battle the darkness evermore.
But God; I was wrong and I truly feel like giving up…
So God, if you are listening, it is I this time that stands and knocks at the door.
I cry, but no one hears…I weep and still none see.
