Shy Man
Disillusioned was the shy man with ever searching eyes.
His kindness recompensed with evil by ridicule and lies.
He wept often inside; his silence consumed him in kind.
Despair often drove him to entertain the dark abyss of his mind.
Well doers came and went; charades well played until the fiery end.
Shy man knew their silent game, for he had seen it time and time again.
Cobwebs replaced the orifice from which sincere hearts would once speak.
Yet now they smelled of muted death as their hearts ceased to beat.
A black anointing fell across the silhouetted room.
Harbingers festooned in white wedding gowns; signaled soon.
Shy man now laughed and laughed for he could see the approaching day.
Yet the well doers bejeweled in deaths costume lastly and simply forgot to pray.
Shy man smiled…they really never knew he thought…they never knew that despite their evil…he was here to stay.
