The Mystery Of The Purple Cat Feet

There was once a mystery a few days ago as wide and as deep as the raging sea.

It was of the strange occurrence of how our cat” China” developed purple feet.

For he has just returned from extended boarding at this strange new place.

At first he was glad to be home, but soon thereafter he seemed so out of place.

He heaved and shook; it was clear then to me that he needed to eat something green.

So on with his leash without resistance or tow and now we go for a little walk outside.

Down the steps we went with ease out to the lush green grass that he so smartly spied.

Nibbles and graze so did he; grass blades flying wildly in a gray green haze.

Hmm I thought, at this voracious rate, I won’t even have to mow for a few more days.

Walk and eat and chase a few bees China now seemed somewhat at ease.

So back into the house we try to go; a little tough though with claws clinging to a tree.

Finally at last I have our little fighter inside; off now with the leash as curtains and walls he climbs.

As amusing as this may seem, he was making a wreck of the place and puking green.

With rags and brushes in hand, I clean all that sticky green the best that I can.

It is now that with much alarm there is something else strange and weird I see.

It’s China lying on his side resting, but he has now these bizarre purple feet.

I inspect and I fret, I am already thinking a trip to our local vet.

For this is something totally new to me…I mean who has ever seen a cat with purple feet.

Then out of the blue, or shall I say purple; it came to me.

I figured out rather quickly the mystery of the purple cat feet.

For it is just outside where we so graciously did roam.

We have a couple of mulberry trees who call our yard home.

I remember just the day before; the ground was covered with berries galore.

Now you all can see just as I…his feet were purple because of the berries dye.

Whew…what a relief.
