The Mighty Sea

I wept before the mountain for it was so oppressively high.

I trembled before the mighty sea as it was too deep and wide.

I fell on my knees and offered a psalm; I gave forth my feeble plea.

The shadow of the mountain covered my weary face.

The roar of the mighty ocean stole my voice from me.

I then heard a voice well up from within my now silent heart.

Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God.

I then cried out above the roar of the raging mighty sea and simply said…

I am so weak and the mountain is so high; I think not another mile I can climb.

I then heard the voice roar above the din of the raging sea as it did say.

I will strengthen you; yes, I will help you; yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness; for I AM the Lord thy God and I will never forsake thee.

The shadows receded, the sea became like glass; the fear within succumbed as soft sleep came at last.

Isaiah 41: 11-13

Fear you not; for I am with you: be not dismayed; for I am your God: I will strengthen you; yes, I will help you; yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness. Behold, all they that were incensed against you shall be ashamed and confounded: they shall be as nothing; and they that strive with you shall perish. You shall seek them, and shall not find them, even them that contended with you: they that war against you shall be as nothing, and as a thing of nothing. For I the LORD thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee.

Allen, this is such an inspiring faith filled poem. It gave this reader an uplifting rich feeling of total peace as I read the last line. I'd say, "This is a great writing."

An awesome God is He, and able to save. This is such a graphic picture of our fears fleeing in the presence of our God. Very moving poem, so revealing of the relationship we can have with Him.

Thank you for every word you have shared here!

I needed this, Allen - when the fear overwhelms, need to remember Who made the storms, the seas, the mountains in my life - and Who can get me through - thank you. You blessed me today -

(((HUGS))) love and continued prayer, Karla.
