by J. Allen Wilson — Read all 1,629 poems by J. Allen Wilson

This poem is the sequel to the 6/23/08 poem titled “The Open Sea”....... Leah goes into the hospital in the morning for test and procedures. The doctors paint a grim and oppressive picture but Leah and her faith paints brilliant sunshine…prayers always most welcome.

The Man & The OpenSea

He walked in silence along the edge of life’s shore.

The warm salty water of the sea lapped gently at his feet.

In the distance he heard the gull’s lonely cry.

He stopped and gazed across the open sea.

With his finger he traced the clouds in the eastern sky.

He smelled the brine that clung fast to the morning air.

He walked and he walked in search of right and fair.

Far up ahead in the expanse of a growing sea and white sand,

There stood a speck of a figure with a glowing object in its hand.

The closer he came, the brighter the light did shine.

His heart run in double rhythm and fascination ruled his mind.

Come now twenty yards away and then fifteen and ten.

He saw the figure to be his lady that he thought he had lost to fates cruel win.

She lowered the glowing light and held it down by her side.

She turned and smiled that smile he so loved and then he broke down and cried.

“I have missed you so much he said, I have missed your sweet love so bad.

I have walked this shore both day and night; I have prayed my soul for you”.

She then held out the glowing crimson light and sweetly said.

“I have been through the valley so low; I have seen the darkness in my bed.

Yet I am now whole and renewed just like my doctor Jesus said.

So my love you can fully see, I am made whole for He set me free.

Never should I to this darkness again see; never should you nor me”.

With that he wrapped his arms around her; he held her close to his side.

He too felt the healing touch of the crimson light that burned new life pure and bright.

Together again they both starred across the open sea.

They professed their eternal love and worshiped together on bended knee.

My prayers tonight for you and Leah. Such a trying time you two are going through. Hopefully the Dr. will have something to do to make her feel better and you too. I know sometimes God tries our faithfullness and all, At least you have each other to encourage and support. That counts for much. Will pray as much as you want me to.
