999

by J. Allen Wilson — Read all 1,629 poems by J. Allen Wilson

I somehow thought that reaching 999 posts would bring about a certain sense of accomplishment personally. However the sadness which consumes me has even robbed the words of my spirit which once swirled in my heart like giant pools of living water…

999

Nine hundred and ninety nine post of poems and stories.

Some filled with sorrow; many filled with laughter and joy.

I wasn’t even sure I would post of this heart ever again.

For I have come to a place where my words feel empty within.

I spend my days and nights at home and at work in white silence.

The words of my soul have taken flight; my heart no longer defiant.

People I’ve known for years pass me by and turn to look the other way.

I know what’s in their mind and I understand they know not what to say.

So it is in this silence that I pen these words of nine hundred and ninety nine.

I think and I wonder if there ever will be number one thousand in due time.

I miss the words that once filled my soul and I wonder where they have gone.

I wonder, but secretly I think I know; they have fallen victim to the sadness of my soul.

999...it’s just a number, or is it a part of my life which I shared with strangers unknown.

I guess in the scheme of things it probably doesn’t matter that much after all.

For words even of the heart also fade away…

until nothing is left to ever suggest we even in life came this way.

999…

Wow! An excellent write my friend, poignant and touching, you've captured a mood within this write that tugs at the heart of the reader. Another milestone behind you, days gone by that are now but reflections of the mind and heart...I enjoyed 999 and anxiously await 1,000! As always a well written poem indeed!
Blessings,
Joyce B.

Such an accomplishment and a record of this day is here, when you are ready to have the joy once again. Never give up hope, for our lives are all enfolding the way that they were destined to be..
You must shake yourself out of this low, but in time you will see..
I wish you peace, love, and light,
Amber "V"

Poignant yet beautiful at the same time, it is often hard to equate numbers and milestones with periods of our lifes that seem in jeopardy but I think it is not the 999 should concentrate on but the 1001...a new beginning perhaps.

An amazing accomplishment, Allen, congratulations. It's when we are saddest that we need to write - on 9/11, my Gift was given me. I tell people, "On that dark day in September, one life was saved: MINE." Why? Because before, I was an angry, bitter person - you would not have liked me. I didn't even like myself. Please: for Leah. For you. For me. Keep the legacy of words alive.

(((HUGS))) love and continued prayer, Karla.

What to say to you. I'd know what to say to you face to face. I'd encourage you to go on. Even pastor this week visiting my home said never give up, God does do miracles. Comforted me. Those who turn away probably don't know their true God. I do and so do you and Leah. Keep praying, we will too, and you will get through. Live each day as if it were your last and carry on with good thoughts and be positive. You will reach 1000 and I hope very soon. Love your writes and am with you all the way in your sorrow and pain right now. Don't let things bother you, keep on the go and positive and Pray the troubles away.
